  Active Learning-centered

From cohort programs to research-based courses, active learning centered opportunities are abundant at CMU’s College of Business Administration.

Active student learning has been an important component of our mission since 1992. Recently we have reaffirmed the importance of it by having people like Larry Michaelsen and James Eison here to assist our faculty in developing their skills in applying active learning-centered behavior in the classroom.

CMU’s Director of the Faculty Center for Academic Excellence, Todd Zakrajsek, speaks of the need for faculty to move from being “the sage on the stage to the guide on the side.” What he means is that the role of a faculty member has changed dramatically, moving from teaching to learning.
