Admission Criteria

Admission to the PMBA program is competitive and dependent upon the candidate's qualifications on several criteria.  Each candidate's application will be reviewed by the Professional MBA Evaluation Committee on a first-come first-served basis.  Evaluation of applications will begin at once and continue until the class is full.  In order to qualify for the program, the candidate must

• be full-time employed,
• have a minimum of four years of qualifying work experience,
• possess an undergraduate degree from an accredited institution with a minimum gpa of 2.7,
• have a minimum of GMAT score of 450,
• meet the formula index of 1050, i.e., undergraduate gpa * 200 plus GMAT score, and
• be committed to completing the eighteen-month program as scheduled.

Each candidate's application will be evaluated on the strength of her or his completed application file, which must contain the following items.

• The candidate's personal letter indicating rationale for taking the program, leadership experience, and goals,
• a current resume,
• the current employer's letter in support of the candidate's participation in the program,
• evidence of completion of an undergraduate degree from an accredited institution:  current transcripts of all degree programs completed (and additional credits earned if not in a degree program),
• results of the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT), and
• for applicants whose native language is not English, results of the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL).

Admission Process

The Professional MBA program uses the online application process through CMU Off-Campus programs, http://www.cel.cmich.edu/future/apply/ .  As well, the student must arrange for additional information (GMAT score and transcripts) to be sent to CMU.  Admissions decisions will be made on a first-come, first-served basis; please send your application materials as soon as possible to receive early consideration.  A committee of MBA faculty will make selection decisions; students offered admission will be notified as soon as possible. Selected students must accept offers of admission, in writing.
